Church in Abingdon

Trinity Church Abingdon

Serving God, serving each other, serving community.

Trinity is a joint URC / Methodist church. It is an active member of the Church in Abingdon.

Each morning the United Reformed Church sends out a reading, reflection and short prayer which helps us to focus on our journeys of Christian discipleship.  The reflections are written by over 100 people with differing perspectives and from different places. The Devotions are available at the website https://devotions.urc.org.uk/.

Prayer from the daily devotion on 20th April 2024:

God of surprises,
I thank you that the task of evangelism is not a burden upon me alone.
I know that you are more interested in my availability than my ability.
Open the eyes of my heart that I can see people and situations
as you see them and to play my part
in helping others to encounter Jesus.
Help me to be willing to be surprised
and even to surprise myself in following you.
Amen

The Methodist Church has daily bible readings and devotions available at the website: https://www.methodist.org.uk/for-churches/resources/bible-studies/. The reading and prayer for 20th April 2024:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8 v 1-2 (KJV)

Loving God, you sent your son to renew your creation. As we live with the tensions and vulnerability of everyday life, help us to trust that love is stronger than evil and life is stronger than death, and that one day, you will make all things new. Amen.
